About Us

Home Grown opened in April 1996 in a small storefront in Manayunk, Philadelphia. Our goal was to bring funky, eclectic handmade home accessories to the Philadelphia market. At the time, Manayunk was on the brink of greatness. A wonderfully quaint walking town where people could come and enjoy a great meal, stroll and shop.  Quickly, we developed a reputation as the "it" place for the unusual, the unique and the well designed.  Our clientele spanned from Interior Designers who knew exactly what they wanted to young brides desperate for help in developing their own taste and sense of style. Remember -- 1996 was far before great accessory design was as readily available as it is today.

After almost 5 years in Manayunk, we realized that if we really wanted to create the kind of shop we visualized, we needed to consider expansion. The question was: should we have more than one area location or one fabulous, expansive space where we could really create the collection that we had envisioned. We decided on the latter and in 2001, moved into our current 3,000 sf home in Haverford, right in the heart of the Main Line of Western Philadelphia.

Since then, we have developed one of the area's leading collections of tableware and home accessories. We work hard to continue to bring the most fashionable, most sophisticated pieces to the Philadelphia suburbs and yet still maintain a wide variety of prices. We have a wonderful clientele who have developed their taste along side of ours and have enabled us to showcase products that range from the classic to the modern. We look forward to seeing what the (design) future may hold.
