TipsTRANSITION Yes -- we're all in the same boat. Sick of the snow, the cold and wondering when we are going to have a few sunny days (in a row)! One of my favorite parts about shopping for the store is that we, like fashion, are always looking towards the season ahead. So, while we were experiencing a blizzard outside, we are unpacking beautiful new, spring merchandise inside. Yes, the boxes have started rolling in. We are in a transitional time of year so my tip is to take the opportunity to transition. Yes ladies, that means clean out the clutter. We are far enough into the new year that it is time to get busy. You know exactly what I am speaking of. We are all guilty of holding onto many things that we have not used in years nor would we ever dare bring out when company arrives. It may be the big, colorful meat platter with fruit dancing all over it, the chip bowl in the shape of a swimming pool with a I don't know what making up the dip bowl or perhaps a cheese slicer in the shape of a mouse. Remember, it is 2010 -- not 1988. And for those of you who think you may miss them in your home, I promise you -- you won't. So, what do we do with all of this once great stuff? Give it to our daughters who don't want it or better yet -- our daughter in laws? No, I don't think so. In the Philadelphia area there are many organizations that would gladly take those things off your hands. Marian's Attic -- the resale shop in King of Prussia associated with Laurel House -- would love to have first quality items to sell. Donating to the Salvation Army is like giving twice. The stores sell your donated items at very reduced prices so that anyone in any financial situation can afford to shop. Second, the money raised in the stores is then used to support their shelters offering a place to sleep for anyone who needs one -- including women and children. Now, how can you justify holding onto items you dislike when you have options like this? Have fun, give back (once again) and make room for spring!
